I cite the case of the ex navy guy and his ex navy self defense trainer wife. Scene = a suburban corner stop sign - a group of 5 or so "Youths" - an ignorant spitting incident followed by the physical maiming of 5 of the most surprised 15 to 18 year olds you can imagine!
