...The murdered man was a native Dutch, who took care of a local playground. Neighbors say he had often trouble with Moroccan youth who made a mess on the playground.

Local newspaper Parool reports that the man was a racist: “After a burglary he was condemning all foreigners here”. But also Newspaper AD, report that the man was a racist, quoting his Turkish neighbor who said that he was known for his racist talk, he had said often that there were to many immigrants in the neighborhood (Dutch people are a minority in most areas of Amsterdam). A Moroccan woman from the neighborhood says she can understand the anger of the man: “The young [boys] hang around, act bothersome and make the atmosphere bad. But [he] should not become racist.”

A frustrated man, complaining that these kids left a mess. His error was not that he identified these kids as bad -- his error was in not recognizing how very evil they were.

......They could not do any thing; the whole building was directly on fire. The just retired D. de Haas, a man of 65 years old, was likely burned alive and was later found by the firemen.

The police found evidence of arson and said that on the door there was a sign that looked like a swastika. Dutch language blog GeenStijl reports that just after the explosion a car with two people inside caught fire. This was very close to the burned down house. The fire in their car wounded both people. The blog says it is quite stupid to light a cigarette after an arson attack if your cloths are full of gas. But the police refuse to give any comments.

Do these examples of Muslim youth run amok indicate that Islam is flawed? I'd say they're a big hint that should start you thinking in that direction. But the proof I suspect will be when we realize that many, perhaps most Muslims approve of these murders and attacks. What? they don't? How many do you hear denouncing this violence?

......AT5, a local TV station, reports that his friends say that his critizism on foreigners has became fatal for him. And that althoug[h] he was a big grubler he was absolutly not a racist.

Stocks fell on Monday after CNBC's Maria Bartiromo revealed on air that Ben Bernanke felt his testimony last week had been "misunderstood."

And I don't blame Maria, unless she has distorted what was said. Did she realize what her report would do to the markets? Doesn't matter; Mr Bernanke should have known.

"I asked him whether the markets got it right after his congressional testimony and he said, flatly, no," Ms Bartiromo said. She was reporting live from floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the resulting trading roar almost drowned out the rest of her remarks.

I recommend he wires his jaws shut before going out in public.

The S&P 500 fell 0.7 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite lost almost 0.9 per cent. Stocks had rallied on Mr Bernanke's testimony last week, which was interpreted as signalling a probable pause in the Fed's series of rate rises after its May meeting.

"It comes off as a great example of over-communication and a possible attempt to over-fine-tune, assuming he was willing to go on the record with these comments - CNBC is not the Fed's obvious port of call to correct market expectations," said Alan Ruskin, strategist at RBS Greenwich Capital.

The Fed declined to comment.

The Dutch secret services AIVD (state intelligence) and MIVD (military intelligence) are investigating an unknown number of Muslims within the Dutch army. Last Saturday, the Dutch newspaper Het Parool reported that a growing number of Dutch soldiers sympathizes with radical Islamists. The paper refers to the annual report of the MIVD, which states that it conducted a number of investigations into “alleged radicalisation of military personnel” as “there are signs that indicate a possible radicalisation of Muslim individuals or groups within the armed forces.”

Talk about fox in the hen house. And why might the Dutch military be needed to fight terrorists? Also from the article:

At least ten to twenty groups of Muslim terrorists are said to be active in the Netherlands, planning assassinations of politicians and the bombing of the AIVD headquarters.

Ten to twenty? Yikes. But there is an effort to clear radicals out of the military. This is bound to be impeded by cries of discrimination from the "victim" radicals.... First the cartoons, now they take our state owned weapons from us. Yes, and they better do it sooner rather than later:

The number of Muslim citizens in Switzerland has grown from 16,000 to 310,000 during the past four decades.

Suspected Militants?

From a Washington Post article, the religion of peace denies responsibility:

NEW DELHI, May 1 -- Suspected Islamic militants shot and killed 19 Hindus in an attack on a village in Indian-controlled Kashmir province late Sunday night, local police said.

No militant group has yet taken responsibility for the killings that happened at Kulhund village, more than 120 miles northeast of Jammu, the winter capital of the province.

"The villagers were asked to line up outside their homes and shot dead by a group of militants," said an official reached by telephone at the police control room in Jammu.

I mean, come on Hindus? Who can't get along with Hindus?

Sharia Law

Sweden's largest Muslim organisation has demanded that Sweden introduce separate laws for Muslims, according to Swedish television. Sweden's equality minister Jens Orback called the proposals "completely unacceptable".

Good. Sooner or later a line must be drawn. Accepting Sharia in certain areas, or Sharia applied only to certain people would have been a defeat. Odd thing, nowhere in the article is the word "sharia" used.

Death by stoning is also the penalty for adultery where one or two married individual are involved, while lashing with 100 strips is usually the penalty legally applied for fornication when the guilty party is not married.

Islamophobia

Thorbjørn Jagland thinks Islamophobia is the problem. Fjordman sets him straight:

Opinion polls have revealed that two out of three Swedes doubt whether Islam can be combined with Swedish society, and a very significant proportion of the population have for years wanted more limitations on immigration. Yet not one party represented in the Swedish Parliament is genuinely critical of the Multicultural society or the current immigration policies. The Swedish elite congratulate themselves that they have managed to keep “xenophobic” parties from gaining a foothold while the country is sinking underneath their feet. No, Mr. Jagland, we have nothing to learn from Sweden except hypocrisy to perfection. We should study them only to avoid letting them drag us down with them when they fall, which they will.

Republicans Bet on Your Ignorance Too

I don't know; is it ethical to jump on the math-ignorance band wagon? I suppose if you can see it's a juggernaut that isn't going to stop any time soon. MyWay:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Republicans advocate sending $100 rebate checks to millions of taxpayers, and a Democrat is leading the campaign for a 60-day gasoline tax holiday.

Either way, it seems no one in Congress wants to be without a plan, however symbolic, to attack the election-year spike in gasoline prices.

A vote is possible as early as this week on the Senate GOP approach, which calls for $100 rebate checks for taxpayers to cushion the impact of higher gasoline prices. The measure seems unlikely to prevail, at least initially, since it includes a highly controversial proposal to open a portion of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.

So maybe some good can come of this if it becomes the catalyst that finally gets a few oil wells into that desolate ANWR wasteland. I know. We'll just have to deal with the unimaginable destruction that will result. (like we did in Texas and Oklahoma)

Democrats seemed caught off guard by the GOP maneuvering, but a spokesman said they would have a plan of their own.

OK, well that's good. I like off guard. But this?:

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, the committee's chairman, said senators were concerned about the "record profits and significant executive compensation in the oil and gas industry." ........
...... With gasoline prices soaring and oil companies announcing record profits, "it's relevant to know what the real financial picture is for this industry," added Montana Sen. Max Baucus, the panel's ranking Democrat.....

But they already know what they'll find. Come on. These are publicly traded companies. The information is in the annual report. Taxes too. Sheesh.
