[in a cabin in the mountains, Jim wakes up and bangs his head on the table he was sleeping under]
Alex Rieger: Jim, are you alright?
"Reverend" Jim Ignatowski: Yeah...uh ... who are you?
Alex Rieger: I'm Alex. We're friends, we work together.
"Reverend" Jim Ignatowski: What? are we, lumberjacks?
Alex Rieger: No, we're cabdrivers.
"Reverend" Jim Ignatowski: I bet we don't do much business up here!
For a couple years I've been blaming it on iron poor blood, lack of vitamins, dieting and a dozen other maladies.
Now I found out the real reason. I'm tired because I'm overworked.
The population of this country is 237 million.
104 million are retired. That leaves 133 million to do the work.
There are 85 million in school, which leave 48 million to do the work.
Of this, there are 29 million employed by the federal government.
This leaves 19 million to do the work.
Four million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 15 million to do the work.
Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Government and that leaves 200,000 to do the work.
There are 188,000 in hospitals, so that leaves 12,000 to do the work.
Now, there are 11,998 people in Prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work.
You and me . . . and you're sitting there reading jokes.
Remember when Hillary presented the Russian foreign minister with Obama's "Reset Button"? (except, Obama, so the Russian label translated to something like "cornflakes that your mother purchased")
That was the era of talk to your enemies what can it possibly hurt. Obama was going to get along with the mullahs and reset the Russians and butterflies were going to encircle the earth.
Well, it seems the world doesn't respond to Obama quite the way it did in his sophomoric imagination. The above photoshop is from a Russian Live Journal site, and it's one of the tamer ones.
One photo (that I won't post) sums up what seems to be the current Russian attitude: it's a dog poop with a little American flag flying from the summit.
So the Justice Department can't condemn the Ferguson police shooting, but they want to keep a good thing going so they condemn the whole police department. How does it go? Never let a good crisis go to waste?
(Reuters) - Two
police officers were shot during a protest outside Ferguson, Missouri,
police headquarters early on Thursday, police said, just hours after the
city's police chief quit following a damning U.S. Justice Department
report into his force.
The shooting of the officers,
who were in serious condition at a hospital, was the latest incident in
months of turmoil in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson...
She said she had only convenience in mind in choosing to use just a personal email account.
“I
thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for
my personal emails instead of two,” she explained. She asked, in
effect, that voters trust that she was disclosing more of them than she
needed to — and even to credit her with an unusual degree of
transparency.
Then, further down in the article:
Mrs.
Clinton’s explanation that it was more convenient to carry only one
device seemed at odds with her remark last month, at a technology
conference in Silicon Valley, that she uses multiple devices, including
two kinds of iPads, an iPhone and a BlackBerry. She said then: “I don’t
throw anything away. I’m like two steps short of a hoarder.”
At
one point on Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton said the emails she had deleted
contained “personal communications from my husband and me.” But on
Sunday, a spokesman for Mr. Clinton told reporters that the former
president had “sent two emails in his life.”
OK, so she doesn't want to carry two devices, but she uses multiple devices. Sure it's a contradiction. But didn't Hillary know, and don't the reporters know, that you can use more than one email account on any device? Why even make up an excuse like that?
Of course Hillary knew that she didn't need two devices. And she should know that most of us know that. Was she just trying to sway the technologically clueless? Those who can't work their remotes, call videos "Youtubes", and regularly answer e-mails from Nigerian princes? Is that voting block large enough to risk insulting the intelligence of all the rest of us?
I'll say it again; she would probably have been a better president than Barack Obama. But not that much better. And we certainly can't survive another crypto-Marxist in the White House now. Especially not one who thinks we're all stupid.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed Monday that
President Obama is "very interested" in the idea of raising taxes
through unitlateral executive action.
"The president certainly has
not indicated any reticence in using his executive authority to try and
advance an agenda that benefits middle class Americans," Earnest said
in response to a question about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) calling on Obama to raise more than $100 billion in taxes through IRS executive action.
"Now
I don't want to leave you with the impression that there is some
imminent announcement, there is not, at least that I know of," Earnest
continued. "But the president has asked his team to examine the array of
executive authorities that are available to him to try to make progress
on his goals...
This is going just the way I feared. Republicans didn't do everything in their power, or anything at all really, to stop executive amnesty, so the president goes on to regulate the internet. They don't push back there, so of course he's going to raise taxes. Next he'll be outlawing beer caps and telling us what underwear is acceptable.
He won't stop or even slow down until he encounters resistance. And the gormless Republicans don't have a plan; or even a clue. Sad day: we won the election and we're still powerless.
