Occupy Wall Street!

Nice picture. I like the look, but it's a little lame when mixed in with a gallery of other protesters from around the world. Don't get me wrong, the right to protest is part of what America is about. And I'll fight for your right to protest wherever and whenever, no, that's not all together true, but I'll support the concept of not avoiding a fight for your right to protest wherever and whenever you choose. I just wish the concept behind these protests went a little deeper than "the bankers got all the money man."

Likening it to the Arab Spring though? How many Coptic Christians were killed on Wall Street this weekend? How many times have the regime's military fired on the protesters? How many leaders have been disappeared?

Well, same thing as the Arab Spring, except with ATM fees and student loans in place of religious persecution and brutal dictators.

Obama Speechifies

Sorry for postless Monday. I've been fiddling with movies again, and reminding myself why I haven't done one in so long. It wouldn't take me so long if I did it more often. But every time I open iMovie, I have to learn it all over again. Oh, plus I have to learn movie math - where 0:01:00 minus 0:00:29 equals 0:00:01 (or at least, I think it does - like I say, this isn't my wheelhouse)

Anyway, all these images popped into my head the first time I heard Obama's Get Marching speech. So, in order to keep the images from interacting with the voices, I thought I'd get them out of there.

Whenever I hear the administration invoke history or historic self referentially, the Hindenburg disaster comes to mind.

And on the subject of self-reference; what is this: "If asking a billionaire to pay the same rate as a plumber or a teacher makes me a warrior for the middle class, I wear that charge as a badge of honor.”

Wait a minute. Who "charged" you with being a warrior for the middle class?

And back up to the beginning. Billionaires pay a higher rate than plumbers and teachers. And you want them to pay the same rate? Seems to me you're going the exact opposite direction from the middle-class warrior one.

But now we know where we stand:

• Nobody accused you of being a warrior of any kind.
• You're possibly historic, but that may not be a good thing.
• We have progressive tax rates and billionaires pay a higher rate than plumbers.
