I almost posted the Justim Bieber/CSI shoot out when I saw it last week. I'm glad I waited for this Extended Play version. Now, if only I can get it to loop.

Anyone know the trick to opening those stitched bags of bulk rice? The one above is just an example; the rice I buy has double and sometimes triple stitching. And I'll bet maybe twice in my life I've been able to pull the right string and unzip the bag. Usually I end up going Charlie Sheen on the bag with a steak knife.

There's even an E-how article on un-stitching the bags but their method (cut the knot at the end, then pull the unraveling string) is useless.

Rep. Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh, called Rep. Michelle Litjens, R-Winneconne, Monday morning to apologize for his comments that Litjens described as containing an obscenity and the words “you’re dead.” Last week, he accepted responsibility for being issued an ordinance violation for visiting a massage parlor in Appleton that was the subject of a prostitution sting.

So he apologized but nobody can report the apology because they didn't cover the story in the first place. Contrast this with the media outrage with teapartiers over much tamer, and sometimes even imaginary, things. Something is wrong with the mainstream media. And it's only getting wronger.

No Fly

FT reports:

The Pentagon is deploying naval and air forces around Libya as the US and UK governments consider tougher measures to force Muammer Gaddafi from power, including the possible establishment of a no-fly zone.

“We must not tolerate this regime using military force against its own people,” David Cameron, UK prime minister, said. “In that context I have asked the Ministry of Defence and the Chief of the Defence Staff to work with our allies on plans for a military no-fly zone.”

Hillary Clinton, US secretary of state, at a UN meeting in Geneva, said: “Nothing is off the table so long as the Libyan government continues to threaten and kill Libyans.” She added she had discussed a no-fly zone with other foreign ministers.

Now the question is, what if France or Russia says no? What if we don't have complete agreement on instituting a no-fly zone? Do we need UN approval to do the right thing?

I felt more confident when we had a president who didn't need approval to do what was necessary and right.
