Charlton Heston

Can it be? Charlton Heston, gone? Ah well, he lived a long life, and he shot and ate lots of things. Plus, he seemed to upset all the right people. Oh, and he was Moses. A guy could be proud of half that resume.

***Update:

One thing few people realize about Charlton Heston - the man was over twenty feet tall. They say when he laughed, the ground shook.

We'll Get You, And Your Play-Toy Too

The Hunt

Air America

If I had a shortwave radio, I'd try to find Air America. No, really, if for no other reason that it would give me something to be (patchouli) incensed about.

But now the beacon of the tin foil hat set, Randi Rhodes, has been suspended, and I may never get to hear her. Remember Randi? (She's the one who was mugged by a pack of right-wing thugs who resembled eleven Guinness and six shots of Raspberry Stoli)

The NYT has the story of her suspension:

Ms. Rhodes used vulgar language that likened Mrs. Clinton to a prostitute at an event sponsored by KKGN, the Air America affiliate in the San Francisco area, on March 22. A video of Ms. Rhodes’ remarks was published to the video-sharing Web site YouTube on Tuesday, prompting condemnations by some bloggers.

Heh, heh, heh. You know they wouldn't have suspended her if she was making the same remarks about Condi Rice. It's only crude if you're talking about another liberal.

Operation chaos seems to be working.

Ted Turner Sees Cannibals

Ted Turner comforts me. Well, not personally, but it's good to know that I can turn into a crazy old coot and still be accepted so long as I make a roomful of cash first.

Newsbusters has video of his latest "cannibal" interview with Charlie Rose. What a guy. He arrives in his private jet and complains that if we don't stop burning carbon we'll all be eating each other like New Orleans in the wake of Katrina.

I figure I'll have at least enough cash to get away with a few you-kids-keep-off-my-grass tirades, standing in the driveway, shaking my cane, in my pajamas.

(sorry for the light blogging the last few days, I've had lots of work to do - which is good)

Transatlantic Plot

Next time you hear some indignant passenger raising hell at the security checkpoint because they have to throw away their energy drink, think on this:

A gang of British Muslims planned to blow up seven planes within hours in the biggest terrorist atrocity since 9/11, a court heard yesterday.

Two thousand passengers would have died in the plot by eight fanatics working "in the name of Islam", the jury was told.

Well, there but for the grace of God, huh?

More Lawnmowers

I promise this won't become just another lawnmowers-in-strange-places blog.

Probably.

Anyone else notice the unfortunate placement of the Oprah image on Drudge? I have to wonder if he does this intentionally sometimes.

That's not a scold.

Last April Fools Post

Five minutes left for April Fools posts. He shoots - he scores.

Cruel Joke

No April fools jokes from me. It was all I could do to post anything at all today. Don't know if it's Blogger or me this time. So here's a nature shot:

And here's a rally in Tehran, being broken up early by Ahmadinejad's latest crowd control device, "Mahmoud's Lawn Boy".

No, really.
