Protesting the Obvious

Cheryl King of Gulf Shores, Alabama yells to passing
cars in protest the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico,
in Orange Beach, Alabama June 3, 2010.

Well finally, a voice of sanity. Like Cheryl, I was getting sick and tired of all those people who said that a gushing well in the Gulf was a good thing.

***Update:

And while I'm all outraged, like a WaPo reporter on a Palin story, can anyone tell me why we haven't put James Cameron in charge of the effort to cap the well yet?

Sure, BP knows something about deep sea drilling, but could BP give us this?:

I think not. And if Cameron fails (yeah, like that could happen), we can fall back on Oliver Stone.

Remember When Life Was Simple?

Do I dare criticize? After all, I was a member of the Dorks when I was their age.

Best line: "You can tell they're kind of talking about you"

The only way this gang could be cool is if they sniffed each others butts upon meeting. I could respect that kind of commitment.

Nostalgia

Remember during the campaign, when Barack Obama promised an open dialog with our enemies? (implying that they wouldn't be so much enemies if we would only talk to them) Well, now the Obamanator is risking the support of his base by daring to talk to the real enemy:

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's planned meeting Thursday with Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer faces a protest from opponents of Arizona's new immigration law.

Opponents say the law, which Brewer signed, is discriminatory and say Obama isn't doing enough on immigration reform.

Brewer is to meet Obama at the White House, and opponents said they will hold a demonstration there to denounce the Republican governor, "the discriminatory Arizona law she signed" and "President Obama's halfhearted leadership on immigration reform."

Never mind that the administration has been condemning the law without having read it. At the very least, the governor can enlighten the president about what the law does and does not say. And maybe he'll have advice for her concerning what she can do about Phoenix, the kidnapping capital of America:

No Evidence Needed

I heard this today on the radio but it took me awhile to find it on youtube. Listen to the whole thing if you have time, but I started it at the most important part. The Israelis kept their sailors alive but it was a big loss for them.

Once again, the Israelis have offered to accept any and all aid shipments. The only requirement was that they be allowed to inspect the cargo.

What to do When You're Lost in the Woods

Dallas sent me this har:

A man stranded in the bush in northern Saskatchewan was rescued last week after chopping down four power poles — knocking out electricity to surrounding communities.

The incident left several hundred people in Wollaston Lake and Hatchet Lake Denesuline Nation without power for more than 30 hours, but it paved the way for a man to be saved by a SaskPower crew.

“He was found under his boat in a very distressed state, so essentially he was stranded for a number of days and just desperate for people to know where he was,” SaskPower spokesman James Parker said.

Silly man. What you do when stranded in the woods is: you shoot an owl. Animal rights weenies will show up within 20 minutes. You can live off of them until help arrives. (Yes, they're a little stringy and have a distinct patchouli aftertaste but they're protein)

High Five!

Cat Fight!

Great photos from PetsFoto, ripped off in toto so I'm linking to their home page. Looks like a good source for Cute when you've been having a bad day. Speaking of that, here's two things to run together in the background when surfing around: rain and piano plinking. (via redit) But be warned: you could end up relaxed to the point of drooling and/or involuntary urination.

Sorry for the light posting. We've been graduating high school. Not me, of course. I say "we're graduating" like those guys who say "we're pregnant" when it's not them who have the backache and have to pee every twenty minutes.

But the Lumber Camp has a new graduate and I couldn't be prouder. She's in the top 10 in her class, and has honors and kudos just dropping off her every time she turns her head. She got many generous gifts and support and such like, to the point of me getting jealous and trying to draw attention back to myself.

Creepy Guy

I get a whiff of an 8 year-old taunting his little sister with "I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you." Or windmilling his arms and announcing that everybody better get out of the way, or it's their own fault if they get hit.

McGinniss seems to be claiming it was just dumb luck that he rented the house next door. I don't buy that. And I think he knows that he won't get any inside information by living in close proximity. He just wanted to provoke a reaction with his creepiness. Now he criticizes the Palin's reaction, and hopes the publicity insures a best seller.

Creepy yes. And illustrative of the childish nature of the panty-bunched Palin haters.
