Long story short: Don't install any web-based anti-virus software that claims your computer is full of bugs. But really, you should never buy anything from a pop-up. If a pop-up reminds you that you've been meaning to buy a magic gas cap that gives you an extra 18 miles/gallon, close the pop-up and go buy the magic gas cap on Amazon.
