GM vs Toyota

I guess this should be in the Odd-News category seeing as it's GM and not Toyota:

DETROIT – General Motors Co. is recalling 1.3 million Chevrolet and Pontiac compact cars sold in the U.S., Canada and Mexico to fix power steering motors that can fail.

The recall affects 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Cobalts, 2007 to 2010 Pontiac G5s, 2005 and 2006 Pontiac Pursuits sold in Canada and 2005 and 2006 Pontiac G4s sold in Mexico.

More than a million vehicles could suddenly lose power steering? Are there going to be hearings about this on Capitol Hill? When did GM realize there was a problem? Why can't they fix them all tomorrow?

I kid. GM is doing the right thing. Course, I'm thinking Toyota has been on the side of the angels too. No company wants recalls, but they happen. Toyota was singled out because the government owns a car company and whatever hurts the competition is good for Government Motors.

Government Motors needs the boost too. On a purely selfish level, would you buy a GM car without big incentives?

Learn from this. And watch for it to be repeated in the health sector should the government ever own, or become, a health insurance company.

***Update:
Just came across this, maybe a little much...
