George Will, that is. He's right to notice that vanity seems to be the underlying theme of this presidency. But more important is the question of whether Barrack Obama will finally concede that his charm doesn't work when applied to international relations. He needs to learn that lesson if he is to protect American interests for the next three years.
A pretty smile and deep laugh are great for convincing a 20-something voter that you can charm our enemies into becoming friends, but charm is destined to fail when applied to a problem such as a resurgent Russia reasserting its power over FSU countries. Charm hasn't swayed the Olympic committee, North Korea, Iran, the Taliban, or even NATO for crying out loud. It doesn't work. And though I'll be happy to ridicule the failure of Obama's Shinning Face Policy; I'd much rather he grew up and began working with the traditional tools of foreign relations. This stuff is too important.
