The Crime of Recreating

I was going to point out the inequity of allowing Democrat lawmakers to use the national mall for a political rally while Japanese tourists are being intimidated in Yellowstone, but as most of you know, there is one steadfast rule at Are We Lumberjacks: Never criticize any event or activity that ends with the arrest of Charles Rangel.  It's just an extension of the alls-well-that-ends-well philosophy.

About Yellowstone, though:
“They looked like Hulk Hogans, armed. They told us you can’t go outside,” she said. “Some of the Asians who were on the tour said, ‘Oh my God, are we under arrest?’ They felt like they were criminals.”
I mean, come on.  Someone walking on the Mall, or stopping at a scenic overlook, costs the government zero dollars. And it actually costs money to try to prevent such activities. So why are we spending money on thuggery in the middle of a government shutdown?

The problem is that the arrest of Chollie was staged.
He set it up.

Now, if he was arrested for any of the many illegalities for which he's been "censured" (read: nothing happened), then that would be cool.

This is theater.

Only thuggish governments commit thuggery. And it is thuggery-

Smokey Bear has gone rabid. There's a Photoshop in that, somehow.

I didn't realize they kept those people locked up for 2 days.

2 days.

with this quote
After two days holding the tourists as prisoners in their hotel, the park service eventually loaded the group onto a bus headed out of Yellowstone. As those who have been to Yellowstone know, the park is huge, so the trip out took two-and-a-half hours.

And they made them take a whiz in the bus, they couldn't stop. A bus with a bunch of senior citizens.

That's so not right.

Although it's hard to get any more worked up after we've become used to Obama aiding the killing of Americans (Fast and Furious), killing Americans (His drones in other countries) and ignoring things while Americans are killed (Benghazi).

If we had a competent media, we'd be looking at President Joe Biden.
So I'm kind of torn on that.

Veeshir-- Rangel's treatment was not merely staged; it was cruel in the extreme. I've heard him speaking since then and it sounds like they made him gargle with broken glass.

You call that *staged*?

I stand corrected.
