Who Says It's a Do-Nothing Congress?

Picture from 1915 shows Turkish soldiers standing next to hanged Armenians. US lawmakers defied strident warnings by President George W. Bush by voting Wednesday to label the Ottoman Empire's World War I massacre of Armenians as "genocide" sparking condemnation from Turkey.

The Democratic philosophy seems to be opposing anything President Bush favors, regardless of consequences. Why would they want to upset Turkey? Were we getting too many friends in the Middle East? I suspect Bush could have saved us this embarrassment if he had quietly dropped hints that he favored the censure. Pretty silly way to run a government, but it works with angry five-year-olds, which is what this group of highly paid wet-blankets most resembles.
