Going Back

Isn't it great that America can finally hold her head high again? Our well traveled and sophisticated president did us proud, as expected, during Gordon Brown's visit: giving a box set of American DVDs in return for a pen-holder that was carved from the timbers of HMS Gannet, built 130 years ago. What do you think the odds are that the DVDs will even play in a EU player? Still, props to Obama for resisting the urge to give Brown a Snuggie, or a case of ShamWows. (even though they're German, and and everyone knows the Germans make good stuff)

So, on the subject of tacky: check out some scans of the 1977 JC Penney Catalog. It's hard to believe we could ever think this stuff was cool.
