So, if a cop drinks on the job, tasers a ten-year-old, and threatens your family members -- and you're governor -- the ethical thing to do is ignore the situation.

Desk sgt.,"I'm sorry mam, I'd like to help you. An out of control cop is a terrible thing. But you're the governor; my hands are tied."

***Update: Put another way, once you're elected, it's wrong to ask that a bad cop be fired, but if somebody plants a bomb and blows up good cops, it's ok to hang out with them, so long as you can claim that you thought they were rehabilitated.
